Location: Red Lake Service Unit, Indian Health Service 24760 Hospital Drive Red Lake, MN 56671-0497

Tentative Start Date: 4/1/26

Schedule / Shift: Work schedules are assigned based on operational need and may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, overnights, holidays, and rotating shifts, including 7-on/7-off schedules. Pharmacists may work 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., up to 80 hours per two-week pay period unless pre-approved.

Job Description:

The Contractor shall furnish fully qualified Registered Pharmacist services to support outpatient, inpatient, and Emergency Department pharmaceutical operations at Red Lake Hospital. Services include the delivery of comprehensive pharmaceutical care in compliance with Indian Health Service standards, Joint Commission requirements, and Red Lake Hospital policies. Pharmacists will provide clinical and operational pharmacy support across care settings while documenting all services in the electronic health record.

Requirements:

  • Degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to maintain licensure and certification throughout the period of performance.
  • Proficiency in IHS/RPMS and pharmacy automation systems.
  • Ability to assess dosing, renal function, drug interactions, contraindications, and allergies.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent care to Native American patients.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Clinical assessment and verification of medication orders.
  • Medication dispensing and preparation using automated pharmacy systems.
  • Patient counseling and medication education.
  • Drug information support for providers and nursing staff.
  • Electronic health record documentation.
  • Inventory management and controlled substance accountability.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify, and clinically assess medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Dispense, prepare, label, and verify medications using approved automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Red Lake Hospital formulary and pharmacy policies.
  • Provide patient counseling and respond to clinical inquiries.
  • Support inpatient and Emergency Department medication needs, including urgent orders.
  • Participate in medication use evaluations, adverse drug reaction reporting, and quality improvement activities.
  • Document all pharmaceutical care activities and transactions in the electronic health record.
  • Maintain controlled substance records and inventory controls.
  • Utilize IHS/RPMS EHR, ScriptPro, Innovation NEXiA, and Omnicell systems in daily operations.
  • Comply with Joint Commission standards and Red Lake Hospital policies.
