Additional information:
ED is on 1st floor, and we have patient transporters that help bring patients upstairs or CT techs transport themselves if transport is unavailable. We have 5 CT techs on day shift, 2-3 staffed from 6pm to 11pm and then it drops to one after midnight until 6am. Dept. also has an X-ray tech staffed on the night shift, with a second X-ray tech coming in at 4am for morning portables. They are located across the hallway from CT. If the CT tech isn’t busy, sometimes they help the X-ray techs with morning portables by being an extra set of hands and vice versa. The morning CT tech starts at 6am to get things ready for the day. Cross-training in X-ray isn't required. These areas function separately. Ultrasound is also staffed 24x7 and located down the hallway from CT.
Dept. uses EPIC and McKesson PACS. Real Radiology for after hours reading. We have recently started using Clario, too.
We have one of the busiest ERs in Iowa and stay steady on night shift. We are stroke center accredited and do many brain perfusion exams. We use RapidAI software for ICH.
