OUTPATIENT NURSES (RN / LPN)

LPNs will not exceed more than 50% of this contract

Hours per month: 1,760

Anticipated start date: 3/1/2026 to 5/31/2028

Pine Ridge IHS is seeking experienced Outpatient Nurses (RN/LPN) to support staffing shortages across PRSU outpatient clinics and specialty services. Nurses may also provide limited support in ER or inpatient settings when needed. 

LOCATION(S)

Work may occur at any of the following PRSU sites:

• Pine Ridge IHS Hospital
• Kyle Health Center
• Wanblee Health Center
• LaCreek Health Center
• Mobile Clinic + outreach sites 

ROLE SUMMARY

Provide outpatient nursing care using the full nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) across diverse age groups and conditions in primary care and specialty clinic environments. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Clinical Care

• Patient intake + identification verification 
• Administer medications + immunizations (PO, IM, IV, etc.) 
• Wound care including complex dressing changes + VAC therapy 
• Collect labs/specimens + point-of-care testing 
• IV placement/removal, catheter care, procedural support using aseptic technique 

Documentation & Compliance

• Document patient care in the PRSU EHR and follow CMS/TJC standards 
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA policies 

Equipment & Support

• Use standard outpatient and emergency equipment (EKG, defib, IV pumps, glucometers) 

SCHEDULE

Shifts vary based on clinic needs; must be flexible.

May include 8-hour or 10-hour shifts, including evening/weekend/holiday coverage. 

Typical shift examples:

• 0800–1630
• 0830–1900
• 1030–1900
• Sunday/Holiday clinic: 1000–1830 

REQUIREMENTS

✅ Active, unrestricted RN or LPN license (any U.S. state/territory) + NCLEX 

✅ RN must have 2+ years ambulatory/outpatient experience

✅ Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS (required) American Heart Association

✅ Must pass federal background/suitability and obtain PIV badge

✅ Must meet employee health/immunization requirements (TB screening, flu, COVID, etc.)
