Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Santa Fe IHS:
- 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8-hour shift) or
- 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (9-hour shift)
- Santa Clara Health Center:
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (8-hour shift)
- No overtime authorized
- Lunch is unpaid and cannot be billed if skipped
Position Summary
The Pharmacist will provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient pharmacy services at the Santa Fe Indian Health Center, with rotation to the Santa Clara Health Center as required. This role includes medication review, dispensing, patient counseling, clinical consultation, inventory oversight, and collaboration with medical staff to ensure safe and effective drug therapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, compound, and dispense prescriptions with high accuracy
- Perform medication therapy management and drug interaction screening
- Review patient records for allergies, contraindications, and therapeutic appropriateness
- Counsel patients on medication use, storage, side effects, and precautions
- Provide clinical consultation to providers on dosing, pharmacokinetics, and high-risk medications
- Manage and monitor pharmacy inventory, storage conditions, and expiration dates
- Document patient education and clinical interventions in EHR/RPMS systems
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, audits, and training as required
- Follow all IHS, federal, HIPAA, and pharmacy practice standards
- Work with multicultural and non-English-speaking patient populations (interpreters provided)
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy (BS or PharmD)

Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license (any U.S. state, DC, or territory)
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience providing similar pharmacy services

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Valid driver’s license
Compliance & Credentialing Requirements
- Fingerprinting and federal background investigation (can take up to 6 months)
- Criminal history check under Indian Child Protection laws
- Mandatory vaccinations and TB screening per IHS policy
- Completion of required IHS training (HIPAA, ISSA, Trauma-Informed Care, Child Protection, etc.)
- Ability to obtain and maintain PIV badge acces
